THREE Royal Bank of Scotland staff from Prestwich helped to raise thousands of pounds for two worthy charities by climbing Mount Snowdon in memory of a colleague who died earlier this year.

The team of Ben Horsfield, Tracy Bertram and Andrea Hood, from Prestwich, together with Alan Davison, from Bury, raised £5,469 for Christie Hospital and St Ann’s Hospice, after both had treated their colleague Shaila Joshi.

Shaila, aged 58, passed away in July after losing her battle against cancer of the pancreas. Shaila lived in Salford and worked as a private banking manager with the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) for 15 years.

Following the climb, £4,469 was donated to The Christie and £1,000 to St Ann’s Hospice.

Ben Horsfield, a relationship manager at RBS, said: “Shaila was a very well respected and popular colleague who is missed by everyone who worked with her at the bank. We wanted to do something as a group by which we could remember her and raising money for Christie’s and St Ann’s Hospice seemed like the best way of doing this.

“Both organisations cared for Shaila and we felt we could give something back to them by completing this walk.”
