A CAR smashed into traffic lights at a busy junction in Prestwich yesterday morning.

The Volkswagen struck the lights in Bury Old Road at its intersection with Heywood Road. It is understood no-one required hospital treatment.

No other car was involved in the incident which happened at around 11.30am. Police were at the scene within minutes. The front of the Volkswagen was badly damaged.
