PARENTS are being urged to send their children to Prestwich Arts College on Tuesday July 7 after a day-long strike of teachers was cancelled.
Headteacher Geoff Barlow wrote to parents of all 841 pupils on Friday to inform them the school would be shut tomorrow.
The strike has now been replaced with an hour-long boycott from 9am. Headteacher Geoff Barlow has advised parents that children's lessons will begin at 10.15am.
The dispute began when teachers were asked to deliver an extra lesson each fortnight. Some staff are concerned it would leave them with less time to plan lessons and mark work.
Mr Barlow issues a statement saying: "The school is open to normal for pupils from 10.15am.
"At the moment, there is an hour-long strike planned.
"However, the school are working very closely with the National Union of Teachers to try to reach a satisfactory outcome."
