THE RSPCA is appealing for the owner of a lost parrot to come forward after it was found in the storeroom of a health trust building in Prestwich.

The African grey parrot, believed to be male, was discovered by a member of staff at Greater Manchester West Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, located off Bury New Road. last month.

Currently, the bird is in temporary care of RSPCA animal collection officer Gina Morrocutti at her home in Oldham..

She said: “This is a beautiful, friendly parrot and it would be lovely to reunite him with his owners.

“He’s very tame and chatty and has a ring on his leg, so it’s clear he was once owned.

“From what we can tell he’s around 17 years old and we believe he is from a household in the local area.

“When I collected him he had a few scars around his face but I think they are a result of him being attacked by wild birds. Otherwise, he is in very good bodily condition.

“If anyone has any information about who he may belong to we would urge them to come forward.

“The sooner we get him back to his owner the better.”

The RSPCA can be contacted on 0300 123 4999 where a message can be left for Gina.
