A driver has been arrested after reportedly crashing into a safety barrier in Bury town centre.

Emergency services were called just after 1.30pm after a woman in her 50s was said to have crashed a car near the junction of the A58 (Angouleme Way) and Market Street today (Wednesday, May 8).

Greater Manchester Police (GMP), the fire and rescue service and North West Ambulance Service all attended following the crash.

Pictures from the incident show a yellow car flipped upside down outside Bury College.

According to GMP, the driver has subsequently been arrested.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At around 1.40pm today, one fire engine from Bury fire station attended a crash involving one car and a safety barrier on Market Street, Bury. 

“Firefighters worked alongside North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe and were in attendance for around 50 minutes.”

North West Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
