A Ramsbottom firm of candlewick bedspread manufacturers held at open day in a bid to attract new employees.
Shepherd’s Ltd opened up its Meadow Mill complex on Railway Street in February 1969 to try and attract school leavers to help cope with demand from a rapidly expanding export market which had doubled in the past 12 months.
General manager Mr G Sproates said: There are some good jobs going today for young girls leaving school.”
