A PRESTWICH sports club is throwing out the welcome mat to youngsters who want to try their hands at crown green bowls.
Prestwich Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club, situated off Heys Road, is holding free sessions for 11 to 16-year-olds throughout Saturday morning.
The club hopes to generate wider interest in the sport which can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Four hourly sessions will be held, from 10am onwards, with the last one beginning at 1pm.
Tuition will be supervised by a qualified Crown Green Bowling Association coach, who will unravel the mysteries of blockers, footers and who's on.
All necessary equipment will be supplied on the day, although participants are asked to bring warm clothing and wear trainers orflat-soled shoes. Refreshments will be provided for those taking part.
