PUPILS at Prestwich Arts College were flushed with success as the school enjoyed another bumper year of GCSE results.

One pupil who brought his A game from the green to the exam hall was 16-year-old Robbie Teague, who hit a hole in one to bring home results including four 8s and four 7s while balancing career as an amateur golf player.

During his studies Robbie, from Prestwich, straddled playing tournaments around the globe, such as the World Team Championship in the USA and The Junior European Open, to hit well above par, despite unavoidably missing school time and mock exams. He will now head off to study at Holy Cross College in September.

Robbie, who plays for Unsworth's Pike Fold Golf Club, said: “I’m really pleased with my grades and It’s nice to be reassured that I’m capable of getting them. I wouldn’t have been happy with anything less.”

Another of the college's star pupil's left jumping for joy with his grades was Kane Lomas, who's results included an incredible seven 9s and two 8s.

Kane, from Blackley will commence his studies Loreto College in Hulme from September and hopes to read medicine at university in the future.

He said: "I didn't know these results were coming, I was very surprised, but I'm very relieved and happy."

Soon to be joining him at Loreto is fellow college pupil Sarah Malik who secured results including three 9s and four 8s.

Sarah, who hopes to one day become a dentist, said: "I was quite cool this morning and felt calm and collected. I feel so relieved with my results — its massive."

Other pupils from the college celebrating great results include Oleksii Oliniichuk who achieved four 9s, one 8 and three 7s; Adam Ellahi who achieved five 9s, one 8 and two 7s; Shelagh Griffiths who achieved two 9s, four 8s and four 7s; and Amal Waheed who achieved two 9s, three 8s and two 7s.

Assistant headteacher Philip Taylor also extended congratulations to pupils Fayha Aziz and Abdullah Naeem for making the most progress in the year group — averaging over two grades above their expected grades in each subject.
