THE RSPCA is appealing for information after a female chocolate Labrador was found abandoned in Prestwich.

The Labrador, thought to be about eight-years-old, was found by members of the public in a terrible condition suffering from matted fur, a skin condition, infected eyes and overgrown nails.

The kind-hearted residents brought her in to the Greater Manchester Animal Hospital clinic where she is now receiving treatment in RSPCA care, and it is hoped she will make a full recovery.

Although the dog is microchipped she does not have a name registered to her, and the owner's details are out of date.

RSPCA Inspector Jessica Kau is now searching to find out who owns the dog and how she came to be in such a sorry situation.

Inspector Kau said: “This poor girl was in a terrible state when she was brought into us. We would urge anyone who recognises her or who knows what happened to lead to her being abandoned to ring the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018.

“We would always urge people to seek veterinary treatment if they are worried about their dog’s condition, there is always help available and abandoning your pet is never the answer.”
