A WHITEFIELD man will show off his culinary skills to the nation next week when he stars on Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me.

Maurice Abrahams, known to friends and family as Moz, took part in filming for the show seven weeks ago, and says he is looking forward to watching the end result when it airs tonight.

The 55-year-old, who lives in Chadderton Drive and works as a hairdresser, was put forward for the show by his wife Rochelle, and says he was completely oblivious until he received a phone call inviting him to take part.

Filming began two weeks later, an experience Mr Abrahams describes as being ‘amazing’.

“It was really hard work,” he added. “I worked flat out from about 12 noon to one in the morning.

“It was a great experience, though, and I made some really nice friends. I am looking forward to it coming out on Monday.”

The week-long show follows five strangers who take it in turns to host a dinner party in their homes.

Contestants secretly mark each other out of 10 and at the end of the week, the one with the most points takes home the £1,000 cash prize.

In his spare time, Mr Abrahams also works as a DJ and vocalist, but says he does a lot of the cooking at home.

Although he remained tight-lipped about whether he won or not, the dad-of-two was able to disclose the dishes he rustled up for his fellow contestants.

For the starter, he cooked garlic and Stilton mushrooms, while the main came in the form of chicken poussin with sweet mash potato.

And for dessert, the four guests were presented with a mouthwatering poached pear with chocolate covered strawberries.

To find out how he got on, tune into Come Dine With Me on Channel 4 from 5pm on Monday.
