DRIVERS experienced delays on the M60 following a three-vehicle crash near the Prestwich junction.

Recovery operators were called to the incident between junctions 16 and 17 on the clockwise carriageway.

The three drivers escaped from the vehicles unharmed after the crash involving two lorries and one Luton van.

There were severe delays of 90 minutes this afternoon (April 17), backing up to junction 13, while one lane was closed.

Fire crews from Whitefield turned out to the incident just after 2.30pm. They used environmental equipment to remove a small quantity of engine coolant that had leaked onto the road.

The lanes have now been reopened and traffic is beginning to ease.

Highways England said on Twitter: "Earlier severe delays of 90 minutes have now significantly eased on the M60 clockwise in Greater Manchester between junctions nine and 17.

"The route remains congested adding around 30 minutes extra travelling time.

"Thanks for your patience this afternoon."
