PARKLIFE organisers are trying to persuade the government to move the late May bank holiday into June.
Moving the bank holiday into June would mean festival-goers get a day off after Parklife ends.
Sacha Lord, Parklife's co-director, said: "I've always thought it's a strain on the economy to have so many bank holidays next to each other. We have a four day weekend at Easter, then two more bank holidays so close to each other in May.
"With Parklife now the largest metropolitan festival to take place in the country, we are petitioning the government to move the second bank holiday in May to the Monday after Parklife."
The petition needs 10,000 signatures to receive a formal response from the government. It currently has just over 2,000.
Parklife takes place on June 9-10 and the petition can be found at petition.parliament.uk/petitions/214904 online.
