A WOMAN and her dog managed to escape their home after a mini deep fat fryer caught fire.
Three fire engines rushed to Welcomb Walk off Top O' The' Fields in Whitefield and found the small blaze in the kitchen at about 4.15pm on Monday, February 26.
Firefighters put out the blaze without the house suffering any significant smoke or fire damage.
The tenant at the property got out of the property with her dog before calling the fire service.
Tim Eaton, watch manager at Whitefield Fire Station, praised the woman for 'doing the right thing' in getting out of the property rather than tackling the fire herself.
It is thought the blaze was caused by a fault in the fryer.
