TRAM services on the Bury line are now running after they were earlier suspended.

Metrolink say the cause of the suspension was a signalling failure at Bury.

This morning, trams from the city centre were only running as far as Queens Road and customers were informed that their tickets could be used on the 42, 59, 97, 98, 135 bus services instead.

However, trams on the Bury to Altrincham line have now been restored, although customers are warned that they may experience an additional six minute delay for services.

The suspension came a week after commuters experienced major travel disruption when all services on the Bury line were cancelled for almost 24 hours.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) apologised to passengers for the inconvenience caused.

But following the disruption, Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said it was 'not good enough' and demanded urgent talks with transport bosses.
