A RIVAL takeaway owner came to his neighbour's aid when a deep fat fryer set alight in Bury.
An empty fryer in Fishpool's Fish and Chips set alight this afternoon, it is thought to have been turned on by accident.
Firefighters from Whitefield and Bury stations were called to the scene in Parkhills Road after the owner of neighbouring Home Run pizzas rang them.
Watch manager Karl Gibbons from Whitefield station, said the owner of Home Run came round with a fire blanket and together the two owners put out the fryer fire.
Mr Gibbons said the owner of Fishpool's was later taken to A&E by his brother for treatment for smoke inhalation and a slight burn to his left hand.
