EVEN more Bury families will now be able to access tax-free childcare as the scheme is rolled out to all remaining eligible people.

Parents whose youngest child is under 12, or 16 if disabled, will now have the opportunity sign up for the programme which supports working parents with the cost of childcare, and could help them save thousands of pounds each year.

Under the scheme, for every £8 parents pay in to their childcare accounts the government will add an extra £2, up to £2,000 per child per year.

The money can then be put towards a range of registered childcare including nurseries, childminders, afterschool clubs and holiday clubs.

To qualify both parents, or the only parent in single parent families, must be in work or self-employed, and earn more than £115 per week, but not more than £100,000 per year.

The scheme, launched in April 2017 has been steadily expanded, and will replace the existing Childcare Vouchers in April 2018.
