A MAN who smashed windows at a Prestwich bank has been handed a prison sentence.

Ashley Williams, aged 27, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to eight weeks in prison for criminal damage at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Williams broke three windows at Barclays in Bury New Road on Sunday evening, police officers were called at 6.47pm.

When they arrived Williams was waiting for them outside Istanbul Grill, he had called them and admitted the offence.

He did not gain entry to the bank.

Williams was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
