DEVELOPERS are looking to demolish a church in Whitefield and build a new 'fit for purpose' one.
The Spiritualist Church in Victoria Avenue, has been bought by Mrs M Ballard who is looking to demolish the building.
According to documents submitted with the application, 'building has a number of serious structural concerns, with extensive subsidence and suffering from general disrepair'.
The documents, put together by architects KUFIC, said: "Having carried out an appraisal, our Client wishes to upgrade the existing facility. A renovation of the existing building is proving uneconomical and unable to accommodate the ancillary space required for buildings to be fit for public use today."
If approved a two-storey place of worship would be built on the site.
