A DEAD deer was discovered on Radcliffe New Road in Whitefield this morning.
Greater Manchester Police were contacted at 8am by a passerby who alerted them to the presence of the dead deer on the pavement outside a nearby petrol station.
It is believed that the deer was likely hit by a vehicle.
The incident was then reported to Bury Council who collected the deer, removing it to their storage facility.
The council has since made arrangements for a specialist contractor from Blackburn to pick up the deer's body.
There are many deer that live in parks around Whitefield, although they rarely venture into built up areas, and sadly incidents like this are thought to occur around three to four times a year.
