COFFEE fans were in luck this week, when they were treated to free drinks.

A new drive-thru Costa Coffee was due open at Logistics North in Over Hulton on Tuesday, but thanks to a technical problem they were unable to use the tills to take money - so they gave out free coffee instead.

Owen Flavin and Peter Hallett, who were at the site on business, were pleased to see the new Costa for a welcome break.

Mr Hallett said: “I think it is lovely, very nice and very clean. The staff appear to be well trained so it’s all good. We’re on business to visit a local company so we’ve stopped off to grab a coffee.”

Mr Flavin said: “When we’re travelling for work we use Costa to stop for 20 minutes to gather our thoughts, relax and then get on with our day. It has been lovely today, and the free coffee definitely helps!

“We thought our luck was in when we saw the Costa sign - and then we got free coffee too!”

There was more free coffee for customers this morning but franchise manager, Chris Halliwell, said he hoped to get the coffee shop fully open by the end of the day.

He said: “The build up to opening has been really good, we’re all really excited. The guys are doing really well."

The opening of the store has provided 15 jobs alongside Mr Halliwell.

He said: “We’ve got nine new staff and six from other stores. All of the staff apart from one are from Bolton so that’s great to provide local jobs.

“We’re in a unique area here – there’s not really anything around us. Logistics North is going to keep growing so custom can only get better.”

Joyce Roberts, of Morris Green Lane, popped in to see the new Costa before doing her shopping. She said: “So far my experience has been very nice. I’ve come to have a look round the Aldi because the bus drops me off right outside so I thought I’d come in and have a coffee before doing my shopping.”

Greene King’s Pine Tree Farm pub is due to open near the Costa on August 21 and major development is continuing at the Over Hulton business site, which is the largest of its kind in the North West.
