A CHURCH in Prestwich could get spruced up and new living quarters added.

Known as Sycamore Cottage, part of the Autocephalic Chapel Church in Chapel Road could become a one bedroom, self-contained flat for applicant Minister Jalal Bouhlel.

The side building to the chapel is currently an office and storage area.

If the plans are approved by Bury Council planning officers, it would instead contain a single bedroom home.

The new home for Minister Bouhlel would feature an open plan kitchen and dining area, a lounge and a shower room.

The roof of the chapel would also be refurbished, with plans showing it could change from red tiles to dark grey ones.

A chimney stack in the property would also be removed.

Windows and doors would be altered, changing from single-paned to double glazed.

Inside the chapel would remain the same say the plans, which were submitted to the council on Friday, July 21.

So far one objection has been raised to the application.
