YOUNGSTERS dressed up as their favourite superheroes to help raise cash for a children’s charity.

Pupils at Mersey Drive Community Primary School donned their best superhero outfits on Friday to raise funds for the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour Charity.

The school’s student council, made up of children from reception up to Year Six, held a vote to help them choose which local charity to support.

Children voted to support Super Josh and each child brought in a pound to dress up as their chosen hero on Friday.

The student council led an assembly about the charity, which supports children who have or have had a brain tumour and their families. Sara Jackson, nursery teacher, said: “Back in the autumn term the student council decided on which local charity they would like to support as a school.

“We researched different local charities and then the student council members told their classmates about each one, and then we put it to a school vote. The school overwhelmingly voted for Super Josh.”
