A TEAM of innovative pupils have scooped an award after launching their own business selling chocolate filled mugs.
The seven business students at St Monica’s High School in Prestwich, formed their team Emporivm and appeared at the Trafford Trade Fair in February.
The team, made up of Ewelina Szydlowska, Katie Barnes, Heidi Taylor, Anthony Walker, Bethany Huxter, Lucy Hignett Bradshaw and Daniel James, took home the Best Product award.
Katie said: “Our initial product was a mug, which was hand finished by us and then filled with Slattery hot chocolate and mini marshmallows.
“We realised that it wasn’t dishwasher or microwave safe and so didn’t serve its purpose and it was taking us too long to produce.
“We decided that printed mugs would be a better option because it appealed more to what the public wanted from our product
“It was because of this decision that we won the best product.”
Emporivm’s product is designed by the IT director (WHO?) and sent to Walker & Co for printing.
Ewelina Szydlowska, who put together the final design of the mugs, said: “I am ecstatic that our team has received this award as it recognises all of our hard work in redesigning our initial product into something that our customers want.”
The business group is now producing mugs filled with chocolate hearts and marshmallows for Mother’s Day and looking into the possibility of releasing an Easter themed line of products.
Emporivm will be holding a stall at Bolton’s Teenage Market, in Victoria Square, from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, May 13.
