Attacker must pay out £955

A MAN has appeared in court after attacking a woman and two police officers

Alexander Slater, 26, of Prospect Terrace, Elton, admitted assault at Bury Magistrates’ Court.

He also admitted driving a blue Vauxhall Corsa without due care and attention.

Slater was ordered to pay £955 in fines and court costs, including a total of £300 compensation.

Man refused to identify driver

SHAUN Christopher Carroll, aged 28, of Eastleigh Road, Prestwich, has been given six penalty points and ordered to pay £811 in fines and court costs after being convicted of a motoring offence by Salford magistrates.

Carroll was asked by police on July 27 to identify the driver of a Mini at the time of an alleged offence, but he refused to do so.

Penalty points

POLICE stopped a car and found the driver was uninsured, had no licence and had cannabis with him.

Waqar Hasan, aged 18, of Kingsbury Close, Kirklees, admitted two motoring offences and a drugs possession charge to Bury magistrates.

Officers had stopped his Nissan Micra in Bridge Road, Bury, on August 31. He was given six penalty points, a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £115 costs.

Court makes banning order

A VANDAL has been ordered to stay away from a woman in Walkden after damaging her house.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court, Gareth William Price, aged 28, of Charlbury Avenue, Prestwich, admitted that he went to the woman’s home on June 28 and damaged an internal wall, costing £200 to repair.

He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting her for a year.

Magistrates also ordered Price to pay compensation for the damage and pay £105 in court costs.

Following a trial he was cleared of a separate allegation of assaulting the woman.

Man in court for assault

ANTHONY Thompson, aged 27, of Thatch Leach Lane, Whitefield, has been ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work after admitting to Bury magistrates that he assaulted a woman in Whitefield on August 22.

He must also pay £170 court costs and abide by the terms of a community order.

Thief jailed for alcohol thefts

A SHOPLIFTER has been jailed for 10 weeks by magistrates.

Jamie Hodgson, aged 27, of no fixed address, had been given a 12-month conditional discharge by Bury magistrates in June after stealing alcohol from Morrisons in Whitefield on March 23.

He has now admitted stealing vodka, worth £80, from the same shop on September 30 and again on October 5.

Magistrates said the offences were serious because Hodgson was a persistent offender with many previous similar convictions and breaches of court orders.

He must also pay £80 in compensation to Morrisons.

Court for attacker

AN Elton man has been given a 12-month conditional discharge after attacking a man. Daniel John Ramson, aged 34, of Woodhill Vale, was ordered to pay him £50 compensation and £105 court costs by Bury magistrates.

Car damaged beyond repair

A WOMAN took someone else's car and damaged it beyond repair in a crash.

Janine Grant-Savage, aged 32, of Chesham Crescent, Freetown, took the Renault Megane from an address in Bury on September 12 and crashed it, writing it off in the process.

She admitted taking a vehicle without the owner's consent and driving without insurance to Bury magistrates, who said an aggravating factor was that she crashed the vehicle.

Grant-Savage was banned from driving for a year and told to abide by a curfew between 8pm to 7am daily until December 29.

She must also pay £170 court costs.

Man drove while disqualified

A GIGG man has been ordered to do 150 hours of unpaid work for driving while disqualified.

Taiar Omir Rafiq, aged 29, of Berkshire Court, admitted the charge and wilfully obstructing a police officer at Bury magistrates. He was also given eight penalty points and ordered to pay £570 in fines and court costs.
