POLICE are appealing for the public’s help to find a convicted rapist who has absconded from a bail hostel in Bury.

Luke Jones,aged 25, was released on license from prison on September 16, having been jailed in 2012 for raping a 25-year-old woman in Manchester City Centre.

He is wanted for breaching his licence conditions days after being released from prison.

The conditions of his license required him to reside at a bail hostel in Bury however he has absconded from the hostel.

It is believed Jones may be currently be somewhere in the Manchester City Centre area and could potentially pose a risk to the public.

He should not be approached by any members of the public.

Detective Sergeant Steph Parker of GMP’s Public Protection Division said: “We are following a number of lines of enquiries in our efforts to trace Luke Jones but have so far been unable to find him.

“We believe he may be in the city centre area but it is possible that he could be in other areas of Manchester.

“I would urge anybody with information about his whereabouts to contact police. Do not approach him but call police immediately.”
