BUDDHIST teacher Jacquetta Gomes, of Kendal, has taken on a new role offering pastoral support to firefighters.
Jacquetta will be on hand to serve people of any or no faith at Jubilee House, Eamont Bridge, where the Fire Fighters Charity offers rehabilitation, recuperation and psychological support to members of the fire service community.
As previously reported by the Gazette, Jacquetta made history as her faith's first ever female fire chaplain. She received messages from well-wishers around the globe, including a yak farmer in Bhutan, and a monk in Mongolia who works for the Dalai Lama.
Jubilee House, near Penrith, is the Fire Fighters Charity's first centre to introduce multi-faith chaplaincy support.
Jacquetta will work closely with operations manager Andrew Waterfield and director of beneficiary services Sharon Bailey.
