YOUNGSTERS are enjoying a new place to learn and play at a thriving Prestwich school.

Park View Primary School has 438 pupils and was judged to be a 'good' school by education watchdog Ofsted when its inspectors last visited in 2012.

To give the school’s youngest arrivals the best start, governors last year gave the go-ahead for a new nursery classroom to be built and the facility is now up and running.

The classroom is more spacious than the area it replaces and has more toys and learning aids, including a wall-mounted multimedia screen.

Headteacher David Stephens said: "We are really excited to have our new nursery that will serve the whole community really well.

"We want to ensure our children have a really solid foundation so they become happy and reliant learners, which can then be built upon in the bigger school.

"By having this investment in our early years, children have the chance to access a really modern provision with state-of-the-art equipment, and we are delighted to have this.”

Mr Stephens said the nursery would cater for up to 50 children, and includes a limited number of full-time places.
