A BRAVE youngster from Prestwich has arrived in America in her battle to beat cancer.

Six-year-old Lilly Reynolds was diagnosed with the life-threatening condition in May after her mum Natasha Walsh discovered a lump in her chest.

Lilly, who attends Our Lady of Grace RC Primary School, has been undergoing chemotherapy at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and plans are now in place for her to undergo more specialist treatment in Florida.

Natasha and Lilly flew out to Florida on Monday and are settling in before Lilly's treatment begins in around 11 days' time.

Speaking from Florida, 29-year-old Natasha said: "This week, we have a doctor's appointment and Lilly's treatment starts on August 3 and runs Monday to Friday for six weeks.

"All the family are praying this is going to stop the cancer from returning. It will be a long 10 weeks, but it has to be done."

She added: "We are trying to make the trip as much fun as possible for Lilly so she can have positive memories, instead of just remembering the treatments."

In that spirit, friends and family have been raising money so Lilly can go to Disney World. Lilly's classmates held sponsored events before the school holidays and Natalie's friend Maria Jones joined Stuart Ogden and Danny Potter for a sponsored bike ride at the Village Hotel in Bury.

Natasha, who works as a pharmacy assistant at the Tesco store in Prestwich, added: "We will be going to Disney World next week.

"Everybody has been amazing, from family friends, work colleagues and everyone at the school.

"I have also been very impressed by the NHS, for the wonderful way staff have looked after Lilly on ward 84."
