MEMBERS of a mixed-sex sports team are cock-a-hoop after being given new kits.
In a move to get boys and girls playing games together, Higher Lane Primary School in Whitefield created a basketball team for all pupils in February.
Since then, the team has competed in a tournament at Philips High School, finishing third out of eight teams, and also finished second in the Bury schools basketball league.
To lend a hand, Cardwells Estate Agents in Bury Old Road, Whitefield, bought the team new kits in the school's blue-and-gold colours.
The school's business manager Donna Cartwright said: "The pupils love the new team. They are competitive and get on really well together.
"They also love their new kits. It will make them feel smart when they head out onto the court."
