IT is all systems go for a new fast food restaurant being built in Prestwich.
At the end of last week, a huge crane arrived at the KFC site close to the junction of Kingswood Road and Bury New Road and began putting foundations in place.
When the restaurant opens this autumn, it will employ 50 people, with room for a drive-through and 28 parking spaces.
Bury planning committee granted permission in November last year, despite 66 people formally objecting.
Some of the objectors claimed the restaurant would create traffic problems and that supply vehicles would have problems turning on and off Bury New Road.
A KFC spokesman said: "A new restaurant will be a positive addition to the local community creating up to 50 career opportunities.
"We will work closely with local residents to ensure that any concerns are addressed."
The restaurant is set to open in the autumn.
