A FRESH appeal has been launched after a man dislocated his elbow when he was chased onto tram tracks.

Police have issued new images of two men they want to speak to following the attack, which occurred on the Bury-bound platform of Whitefield Metrolink station just after 10pm on December 27 last year.

The 26-year-old victim and his friend, aged 23, were on the platform when an argument broke out between themselves and two other men they had never met before.

A short time later the two offenders returned, this time armed with weapons, and threatened the victims – causing them to both fall onto the tracks as they tried to escape.

The older man dislocated his elbow when he fell.

Detectives have now issued new CCTV stills of the men they wish to question in connection with the attack.

Detective Constable Robert Leacy said: "This was a very serious incident that resulted in two young men having to jump onto the tram tracks in order to escape being attacked with weapons.

"One of the men suffered a dislocated elbow in the fall but the injuries could have been even worse if they had jumped onto the track when a tram was approaching.

"We have now issued two CCTV images and I would urge people, if they recognise these two men, to call us.

"Alternatively, if you witnessed what happened on the platform then we need to speak to you."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
