Evan Roy D'aguilar, known as Roy to his family and friends, aged 74 who was driving the Skoda sadly died at the scene.

His family said: “Roy originated from Jamaica but lived much of his life in the Manchester area.

“Roy lived in Bury with his partner Donna Newman and his youngest daughter Kianna.

"He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends.

"“Roy was a much loved partner, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.

"The police and family are appealing for any eye witnesses who may have seen the accident or travelled on that road around the time of the collision to come forward."

Sgt Mark Thomas, of Greater Manchester Police's serious collision investigation unit, said: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with Roy's family at this tragic time.

"We are working to piece together the events leading up to the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and speak to us.

"We are also appealing to drivers who may have dash cam footage around the time of the collision which might show the road and weather conditions."
