A SECURITY guard has been left with serious arm injuries after he was violently pushed to the floor in Pilsworth.

Police have now released a CCTV still of the suspected offender and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

It happened at the Asda store on Pilsworth Road at about 1.25am on January 31.

Two men went into the store and were caught riding pallet trucks around the store.

The security guard tracked one of the culprits down and began escorting him out of the supermarket.

But as they were leaving, the other culprit jumped on the back of the security guard and violently pushed him from behind, causing him to fall to the floor.

The force of the blow left the shopworker with a compound fracture to his right arm which has now permanently effected his mobility.

Police have now issued a CCTV still of the offender, who was said to be bald and wearing a high visibility jacket, and are appealing to anyone who recognises him to come forward.

PC Mark Robertson, of Bury Police, said: "For simply doing his job, and trying to prevent two men from injuring themselves by foolishly riding around on a pallet truck, this security guard has been left with life-changing injuries so it is vital we trace the offender.

"The culprits were riding around the store on a pallet truck potentially putting themselves and others in danger ,and the security guard was just trying to restore order.

"For his troubles, he was pushed to the ground and left with a compound fracture.

"We have now issued a very clear CCTV still of the main offender so I would urge people to look carefully at the image and if anyone recognises him or has any information about what happened then please call us."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
