A PENSIONER'S purse was stolen from her handbag while she was shopping in Iceland.

Police are now trying to trace the two thieves, who followed the 85-year-old woman into the shop in the Longfield Centre in Prestwich.

The pair were caught on CCTV watching the woman as she entered the shop, then the man followed her inside and stole her purse from inside her handbag.

The incident happened at about 11am on Sunday, November 16, last year.

PC Stephen Raine said: “The lady was obviously extremely distressed to find her purse gone when she went to pay for some goods.

“To then find out it has been deliberately stolen is obviously another blow and I want the public’s help to trace the two people in the CCTV images.

“Clearly these people have no regard for anyone else and are at ease targeting an elderly woman, who is out shopping alone."
