A CHARITY which helps people with brain injuries has opened a fundraising shop in Prestwich.

Headway officially opened the outlet in the Longfield Centre on Tuesday and it will be run by sisters Gail and Lynn Pullen.

Gail, aged 60, from Salford, is the shop manager and will be helped by volunteer Lynn, aged 66, who lives in Whitefield.

The siblings were joined for Tuesday's opening ceremony by scores of the charity's supporters and the honour of cutting the ribbon was given to Lynn.

She said: "Gail and I are both keen to get business up and running, and working together to make sure the shop really looks a cut above the rest has been fantastic.

"We hope this opportunity will help us raise some much-needed funds for Headway, which works to support families affected by the often devastating impact of brain injury.

"It is a very exciting time for Headway, particularly as this is our 23rd shop nationwide."

Gail added: "We would like to say a huge 'thank you' to all the generous people who have donated stock so far.

"However, we rely heavily upon the support of the public to make our shops a success.

"So, whether you come along bearing bags of donations or just bags of enthusiasm to volunteer with our Headway team, you will be more than welcome through our doors."

She added: "Our youngest volunteer is 14 and our eldest is 66.

“No matter what your age, your support will go a long way to helping us continue to improve life after brain injury.”
