A DYNAMIC duo are bringing a soap set to life for thousands of Coronation Street fans.

Paul Humphreys, aged 44, from Prestwich, and friend Carla Wilson, aged 20, of Brandlesholme, have landed jobs as tour guides on the set of the famous ITV show.

The pair have been revelling in the success of the tour, which has proved a smash-hit with visitors from all over the world since opening in Salford Quays in April.

But Paul and Carla, who were trained at the Carol Godby Theatre Workshop on The Rock, Bury, are no strangers to the famous cobbles — they have both appeared on the small screen in the past.

Carla first visited Weatherfield aged 12 when she appeared as an extra in the soap and she has also graced the set of Grange Hill, The Street and Waterloo Road.

Paul has also been a Corrie extra, while also making appearances in Last Tango in Halifax, The Mill and In The Flesh.

The pair’s role is to take visitors on a journey through Coronation Street’s history and provide them with a genuine insight of what happens behind the scenes and how the series is made.

Paul said: “I thought it would be a great experience working as a tour guide at Coronation Street The Tour and I was right.

“I love Corrie and working there has made me realise the great affection everyone has for it.

“People constantly want to talk to me about it. It’s amazing!"

Carla said: “Working at Coronation Street The Tour is the perfect position for me.

“I have grown up in the entertainment industry and now I get to share my experiences with people and show people around the secret world behind the camera.

“I love seeing all the fans’ faces as they go from set to set.”
