Man cut from overturned car in Whitefield
A MAN was cut from his car after overturning and crashing in Radcliffe New Road, Whitefield, this afternoon.
The incident took place at around 3.50pm and involved just one vehicle - a Chevrolet Lacetti - which came off the road and hit the kerb, turning on its side.
The vehicle took out a communications box and an electrical box which controls traffic before hitting the tree, causing severe damage to the car.
The full extent of the man's injuries are not yet known, however they are not believed to be life-threatening.
Firefighters from Whitefield and Bury attended the incident, along with police, paramedics and a special appliance unit from Leigh.
They were at the scene for around an hour and a half, during which time the road was closed off.
The man - thought to be in his late 40s - was removed from his vehicle after Whitefield firefighters cut the roof off and removed the panels between the windscreen and side windows.
A spokesman from Bury Fire Station said the man was breathing and conscious when he was brought out of his car.
He has been taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.
