  • "Show's the stupidity of having no staff at stations. All stations should have ticket offices where you can purchase your tickets and as a back up conductors on all trams checking/selling them. If you go through a station early in the morning or late at night it is like a ghost town and security needs to be present to make people feel safe. Also if you sold tickets in the said way you would not have machines waiting like giant money boxes to be robbed."

THIEVES used an industrial grinder to steal £1,500 from a Metrolink ticket machine.

The attack, which happened on the platform of Heaton Park Station shortly before 1am on Monday, caused damage estimated at £10,000 to the machine.
