New exhibition from "maverick" photographer

A NEW exhibition of the works of William Ellis will open at the Royal Exchange in Manchester on January 27.

Mavericks: The Jazz Photography of William Ellis shows Ellis’ work as one of the vanguard of music photographers. He is widely recognised as having created an important document of the contemporary international jazz scene.

His contribution to the culture was acknowledged by the American Jazz Museum, Kansas City where his work has been shown on two occasions.

Recent exhibitions include Bremen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Havana, Hong Kong and Penang.
