THIS year's D:Percussion festival is to be the last, it has been announced.
The festival, on Saturday August 4 and at which Bolton singer Cherry Ghost will be performing, is now in its tenth year, but organisers have decided it is time to call it a day.
The announcement came on radio station Xfm.
Steve Smith, one of the people behind the event, said: "Getting sponsors for the event is very hard and to turn D:Percussion into a paid-for event would be against its ethos."
The festival was first held in 1997 and started life as an impressive 15,000 capacity event in Castlefield organised by a group of mates from Manchester as a non-political response to the devastation of the IRA bombing.
