UNSWORTH professional Wayne Madsen has been rewarded for his super start to his county career with a two-year contract at Derbyshire.
The South African-born opener hit an unbeaten 170 against Gloucestershire on his debut before carrying his bat again with 108 against Surrey, “Since Wayne came into the team he has done very well and he has shown the priceless ability to reach three figures at the top of the order,” said John Morris, Derbyshire’s head of cricket.
“We are delighted to have him at Derbyshire and he deserves this opportunity to become a full time professional county cricketer.”
